"Hannah sit down and write that blog you've been wanting to write."
THAT right there is what I had to tell myself today.
Becaaauuse life has been all over the place.
I read something the other day though that made me remember that life is like dessert.
Life is awesome.
Here are some recent, awesome life photos:
Noah's senior prom:

Lately I have realized that you can't control time or God's plan.
That's really a ridiculous statement because I already knew that.
Things like learning to trust God and not live in fear, learning to not look to the future or past, learning to eat up every moment, are examples of trusting God's plan. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not one of those people that's going to sit here and say: "live every second like it's your last!" Because living every second like it's your last is just putting your mind on your life being over. Life isn't about scooping up everything you can get into your arms before you die. God doesn't call us to be frantic and unsatisfied. Life is about the mission and plan God has for each one of us on and soaking up his beauty along the way. Life is about putting down your expectations each moment and soaking up the moment for what it truly is.

"It takes a full twenty minutes after your stomach is full for your brain to register the satiation.
How long does it take your soul to realize that your life is full?
I weigh the moment down with full attention here.
Life is dessert--too brief to hurry."

How often do I go through a moment not really even embracing that moment?
When you make the decision in your head and heart to be wholly in every moment your whole life will change.
The thing is the only way to embrace the moment fully is to trust God and find true joy in him. God doesn't live by what time it is like we do. God is on eternity time, but is that even considered a time? God just loves and directs our hearts, he doesn't worry or look back or wish our lives away like we do sometimes. When we are trusting him fully we see the dessert. Even in the situations that seem nothing like dessert, we have the option to still embrace the dessert of Christ.

Can unloading and organizing pounds of dog food at the clinic be dessert? Yes it can. Can painting planet earth for VBS space probe theme be dessert? Yes it can.
These are pictures from both of my jobs. Of course this is not all I do. Working with the Children's Ministry at Curtis and the Animal Hospital at Care More are two examples either choosing to see them as just a job, or an opportunity to see God move in every second. It's simply a choice.

All the moments in life are their own. You can't wish hard enough that they become another moment and if you try, you'll only get about as far as a turtle trying to move forward covered in peanut butter standing in cement. It's a beautiful thing to have dreams, but wishing moments away takes each moment to the shallow waters of life. When you decide to dwell in the moment and see how God moves in everything, you have the opportunity to go deep. Please don't be afraid to go deep. Please be intent to go deep.

Currently, Noah is sleeping on my leg, Oli is sleeping under Noah's legs, and the rest of Noah's family focuses their attention on a college softball game. My hair is pulled up in a pony tail and my fingers glaze over the keyboard. As I take breaks to run my fingers through Noah's curls and hold my necklace, I glance over to look at the game. My foot is asleep but I don't mind, don't want to wake him. Instead of wishing for something more or different, I am choosing to embrace this moment for the beauty it holds; because this is right now. Joy is found in Christ, in the "right now".
